Brazil and Mexico urge a greater union between Mercosur and the Pacific Alliance

The foreign ministers of Brazil, Aloysio Nunes, and Mexico, Luis Videgaray, met today in Brasilia and expressed their readiness to "strengthen a greater approach" between Mercosur and the Alliance from Pacific.

Brasilia, Nov 24 (EFE) .- The foreign ministers of Brazil, Aloysio Nunes, and Mexico, Luis Videgaray, met today in Brasilia and expressed their readiness to "strengthen a greater approach" between Mercosur and the Pacific Alliance.

"There is a great opportunity for that approach, because the relationship is at its best", said Videgaray on the links between the bloc that Mexico forms with Colombia, Chile and Peru and Mercosur, which make up Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

The Mexican Foreign Minister declared that "the moment is more propitious" with the economic recovery that Brazil has begun to experience, after two years plunged into a serious recession.

Videgaray said that "Mexico is enthusiastically seeing this recovery", that attributed to the "responsible, not populist measures", which has been adopted in recent months by the Government of Brazilian President Michel Temer, who received him before his interview with the Chancellor Nunes.

According to the Mexican foreign minister, "Brazil is giving an example to the world," which is very "encouraging" for the rest of Latin America and especially for Mexico, which "is ready to continue working "with what he described as his main partner in the region.

Nunes agreed that Brazil and Mexico, the two largest economies in Latin America, should commit themselves to "strengthen the necessary approach" between Mercosur and the Pacific Alliance, as well as to encourage an increase in bilateral trade, which in 2016 totaled 7,300 million dollars.

"We need to do more and expand our trade agreements," said Nunes, who stressed that both governments intend to continue negotiations to "deepen the Agreement of Economic Complementation 53 ", which regulates trade between both countries.
