Satisfaction in Costa Rica for the evaluation of the OECD to the health system

San Jose, Nov. 22 (EFE) .- The Government of Costa Rica was "satisfied" with the evaluation carried out by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) of the Costa Rican health, according to an official statement.

The OECD today launched the publication "Review of the Health System: Costa Rica", a document that corresponds to the results of the evaluation. carried out in the country in the field of health, by the Organization, within the framework of Costa Rica's accession process.

"The Report highlights the soundness of its institutions through the time and throughout the national territory, which has allowed a strengthening of the primary health care system and a high coverage with respect to the total population, "says the note.

Among the issues to improve, the report points to the strengthening of governance of the system through accountability for results; performance management; specific for the health of people, among others.

Karen Mayorga, Minister of Health of Costa Rica, was pleased with the OECD's recognition of the health system Costa Rican "forged under the pillars of universality, solidarity and equity," he says.

Costa Rica began its formal entry process OECD in 2015. As part of these actions, the country is being evaluated by 22 technical committees of the Organization.

The OECD's mission is the promotion of targeted policies to improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world.
