Bogotá, Nov 7 (EFE) .- The Colombian government today appointed lawyer Jaime Pinzón Quintero as third arbitrator to mediate the labor dispute between the airline Avianca and the Association Colombian Civil Aviators (Acdac), informed official sources.
The appointment was made after the "irrevocable resignation" of attorney Elsy del Pilar Cuello Calderón, who had been designated by mutual agreement by the arbitrators of the company Avianca and the Acdac, detailed the Ministry of Labor in a statement.
Pinzón was named by a draw between a list of 99 lawyers, provided by the Supreme Court of Justice to form the Arbitration Tribunal in the labor dispute that began on September 20.
According to the portfolio of Work, "the new appointed attorney will have 48 hours after the communication for possession."
With the appointment of Pinzón there are three designations that have been made to the Arbitration Court to occupy the position of representative previously held by María de la Luz Arbeláez and Elsy del Pilar Cuello Calderón.
Last September 20, 702 pilots, who equivalent to half of Avianca's aviation staff, they started the protest in demand for labor and salary improvements.
