Inauguration of the first National Coffee School in Nicaragua

The now Escuela Nacional del Café had been operating for 13 years in Nueva Segovia, where special coffees and export are grown, under the name of Coffee School for Nueva Segovia, explained to journalists the director of the Agroindustrial Technological Center, Lizandro Borges.

National School of Coffee had an investment of 1.7 million córdobas (about 55,537 dollars).

It will have a capacity to house 400 students to train general technicians in coffee agroindustry and courses in derivatives of the subject.

In the opening ceremony were present the Local Government authorities, producers, students and managers of the National Technological Institute (Inatec).

Coffee is one of the three main export products of Nicaragua.

In the first ten months of the current coffee harvest, between October 2016 and July 2017, exports of this product from Nicaragua totaled 432.9 million dollars, up from 348.4 million in the same period in the cycle number previous.

Coffee in Nicaragua has as main markets the United States, Venezuela, Belgium, Germany, Canada, Italy, Finland, Japan, Spain, United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, France and Australia.
