Managua, Nov 18 (EFE) .- The Nicaraguan Army reported today that it has initiated a plan to protect the coffee harvest 2017-2018 on the farms of several municipalities in the department of Carazo, in the central area of the Nicaraguan Pacific, in order to avoid criminal incidence. P>
The ceremony, held in the Reserva Convent Silvestre de María, municipality of Dolores, department of Carazo, one of the coffee zones of the country, was chaired by the head of the IV Regional Military Command of the Army of Nicaragua, Colonel José Alberto Larios Guevara. P>
The military chief did not specify the number of soldiers that will be used to protect the harvest in the department of Carazo, which runs from October of this year to September. 2018. P>
At the ceremony, according to the Army, representatives of associations, producers and exporters of coffee from Nicaragua participated. P>
Coffee type gold is one of the three Nicaragua's main export products, along with beef and raw gold, according to official figures.
