The Argentine Government signs a "historic" fiscal pact with the governors

Buenos Aires, Nov 16 (EFE) .- The Argentine government described as "historic" the fiscal pact that it signed today with the governors of the 24 provinces of the country, after several days of negotiations, and considered that it consolidates the "federal spirit" through the "adequate" distribution of work and resources.

The agreement was signed after the meetings held by the governors throughout the morning with the interior minister, Rogelio Frigerio, first, and with the president, Mauricio Macri, later.

"It is a fiscal pact that gives a framework of solution to many problems that were dragging in our country many years ago, "said the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of the country, Marcos Peña, at a press conference held in the House Rosada, seat of the Argentine Government in Buenos Aires, after both meetings.

According to the minister, the agreement reflects that it is possible to "build basic consensus" and a "dialogue scheme" based on the "good faith", regardless of the political sign of each one, and will allow to advance in the legislative agenda that has the country ahead.

"We have to be working together to solve the problems to the Argentines, to help build a future perspective, "he added.

Peña highlighted the" judicial conflicts "that were cleared in the pact, since all the provinces, except San Luis (west), agreed to withdraw the "causes of co-participation", which are those that are open against the State for the distribution of resources, in exchange of compensation with bonuses.

In this way, instead of continuing to "weaken the value of the policy" and bringing to justice many situations that "could be resolved through the dialogue ", now they will be able to" clear away the anxieties, the doubts, the fears, the uncertainties that we still have as a country and consolidate a cycle of peace development ".

In addition, it was agreed to begin reducing what they consider "distortionary taxes" and a solution was given to the so-called Fondo de Conurbano Bonaerense, created in 1992 to balance what the province receives of Buenos Aires, the most populated in the country, in terms of federal co-participation (distribution of resources between the provinces).

The fund has a cap and that generated a claim against the Supreme Court of Justice on the part of the Buenosairean Government, that, after this agreement, will be compensated by the State and will retire its demand, according to confirmed Frigerio in the same wheel of press.

For his part, the Minister of Finance, Nicolás Dujovne, revealed that it was agreed to move forward with a project to "update pensions based on inflation", which it will be based on a calculation formula that has yet to be finalized.

Some of the governors, such as the one from the southern province of Tierra, were also present at the press conference. del Fuego, the Peronist Rosana Bertone, who emphasized the fact that "federalism is not resigned" in this fiscal pact.

"This is the first time that the governors have felt that we lose, "he said before highlighting the" important concessions "made by the Macri government during the negotiations these days.

" We have all been satisfied and we have been conform with what we have signed and we hope that it will be reflected in the cameras in deputies and senators, "he said.
