Santos will visit this week London, United Arab Emirates and Portugal

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos will visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Portugal at the end of this week to promote investment, cooperation and peacebuilding, as a continuation of a trip planned for London, his office reported today.

Bogotá, Nov 7 (EFE) .- Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos will visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Portugal at the end of this week to promote investment, cooperation and construction of peace, as a continuation of a trip planned for London, informed his office today.

The president will travel next Wednesday to the British capital to receive two prizes, and from there it will move to Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the two main territories of the United Arab Emirates, and then close with a state visit to Portugal on the 13th November.

In London, Santos will receive the Chatham House Prize on Thursday the 9th in recognition of his work to sign the peace agreement with the FARC, an act that will be attended by the former prime minister. British Minister John Major and Prince Andrew.

The next day, the Colombian head of state will receive the Kew International Medal at the Telford Theater, awarded by the Royal Kew Botanical Garden, for its work for the protection of biodiversity.

In that act, Santos will deliver a speech on the conservation promises of his Government and the program Colombia Bio, among other initiatives, the Presidency reported in a statement.

Colombia Bio is a project that seeks to promote knowledge, conservation, management and use sustainable biodiversity in the country through science, technology and innovation.

Santos will arrive in Abu Dhabi on Saturday 11 and that same day will meet with the prince heir of the emirate, Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan.

In this visit, two agreements on double taxation and protection of investments will be signed, and a contribution from the country will be specified. Arab for 45 million dollars to support the Colombian post-conflict.

The last stage of his tour will be Portugal, where on November 13 Santos will make a state visit that was initially going to do last June, but that was postponed due to the wildfires in that country and the terrorist attack against the center commercial Andino de Bogotá.

In Lisbon, Santos will be received on Monday with military honors at the Jerónimos Monastery and will then go to the Palacio de Belem for the meeting with the Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
