Montoro explains to the Congress next Wednesday the extension of budgets

The Minister of Finance and Public Function, Cristóbal Montoro, will appear next Wednesday in the Committee on Budgets of the Congress to argue the lack of political support that they have prevented the approval of the General State Budgets of 2018 and the extension of the 2017 accounts.

Madrid, Nov 16 (EFE) .- The Minister of Finance and Public Service, Cristóbal Montoro, will appear next Wednesday in the Committee on Budgets of Congress to argue the lack of political support that has prevented the approval of the General State Budgets of 2018 and the extension of the 2017 accounts.

Montoro will attend the Congress at his own request and of the parliamentary groups of the PSOE and Unidos Podemos and will also explain the latest data of Budget Execution.

In this sense, the minister has already advanced that this year it will meet the public deficit target that will close at 3% of GDP, one tenth less than originally estimated.

According to the budgetary execution until September, the Tax collection increased by almost 7% in the first nine months and helped reduce the State deficit by 42.2% in that period, to 17,028 million euros.

On the other hand, Montoro, predictably, will argue that the lack of political support in Parliament has slowed the possibility of approving new budgets for 2018 so that the Government has had to send a budget plan to Brussels without economic measures and with a "constant policy".

In this sense, the Secretary of State for Finance, José Enrique Fernández de Moya, has insisted this week in Congress on the Government's intention to lower the IRPF in 2018 to gross salaries of less than 18,000 euros per year, as well as increase deductions for day care, large family, dependents and dependent elderly.

These fiscal measures are those included in the agreement that the Executive has signed with Citizens in exchange for supporting the next accounts.

Another issue that could be included in the budgets of 2018 would be the possibility of approving a "fiscal premium" in the IRPF for contributors of "certain age", as announced today Montoro.

The Committee on Budgets has also convened for November 28 the president of the Independent Authority of Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF), José Luis Escrivá, to give an account of a first report on public spending, specifically on subsidies linked to employment.

The 2017 Budget contemplate 4.7 million euros for AIReF to carry out audits in order to evaluate public spending and avoid duplication in administrations that could lead to savings for the public State.
