El Salvador suggests drivers not to service with UBER because it is illegal

The official noted that the "transport service provided through the UBER application it is not contemplated in any law "and that in a meeting with representatives of the company" they were guided of which are the mechanisms to develop "legally the service.

It aimed that, being vehicles for personal use and not having permission to operate as a taxi, drivers run the risk of having the police confiscate their license and send the vehicle to a warehouse of automobiles.

"The Legislative Assembly is the only entity that can reform the law in order to incorporate the new mode of transport, therefore, this company must go to the Parliament to manage the modification to the current regulations, "he said.

UBER started operations in El Salvador last May and since that month García pointed out possible violations to the transit law, but Vice President �?scar Ortiz saw his arrival as "pleasant" and predicted that "this new investment will be a success," according to local press reports.
