Ecuador will resume the export of shrimp and fishery products from four national companies to Russia, after a year of blockade for phytosanitary requirements, announced Friday, the Minister of Foreign Trade, Pablo Campana.

Quito, Nov 24 (EFE) .- Ecuador will resume the export of shrimp and fishery products from four national companies to Russia, after a year of blockade due to phytosanitary requirements, announced Friday, the Minister of Foreign Trade, Pablo Campana.

The Ecuadorian official arrived today in that country in the framework of an international tour called "Invest Ecuador 2017 ", in order to expand the commercial relationship, informed his Ministry in a statement.

The lifting of the restriction on Ecuadorian fishing products occurred after the meeting with Sergei Alekseevich Dankvert, co-president of the Ecuadorian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (CICEC).

This entity is responsible for finding more direct trade routes between both nations and increase trade, according to the Ministry.

This mechanism has made Ecuador the third Latin American country, after Brazil and Mexico, with more commercial presence before the Russian Federation.

Currently, Ecuador covers approximately 11 percent of Russian demand of shrimp, in a market of 142 million inhabitants, indicates the Ministry.

The representative of the Cicec proposed to Campana to work to strengthen and expand bilateral relations, both in trade and investment, and mentioned that Ecuadorian cocoa exports to Russia increased by 15 times more in the last year.

The Ecuadorian minister also held meetings in Moscow with executives of Gazprombank, the second private bank in Russia, a financial institution that offers a wide range of banking and investment services to more than 45,000 companies and close to 4 million private clients.

According to the official note, the managers committed themselves to promote among their clients the catalog of investments that drives the Government of Quito and that is valued at 33,000 million dollars.

In addition to Russia, the minister's tour includes the United Arab Emirates, South Korea and Japan.
