Brasilia, Nov 23 (EFE) .- Brazil will begin to block, starting in 2018, cell phones that are adulterated, cloned or without the corresponding international identification code (IMEI), as reported today the state National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel). p>
The decision was taken unanimously by the Board of Directors of the regulatory body in a meeting held on Thursday in Brasilia, said the entity in a statement. P>
The telecommunications industry and mobile phone companies are participating in the project, which will be launched in Brasilia and the state of Goiás (center-west). P>
At first, which should happen from next February, a warning message will be sent to the users who own terminals irregular and from May 9 will begin to block them. p>
For the rest of the states of the country, the blocking of cell phones "pirate" will occur in two phases, the first will be 8 December 2018 and the second, on March 24, 2019. p>
According to data from Anatel, about one million new devices enter the networks of operators every month.
