An exhibition shows a multifaceted Madrid in the FIL of Guadalajara

Guadalajara (Mexico), Nov 23 (EFE) .- The Plaza de Cibeles, the streets of the Gran Vía, the Puerta de Alcalá, the delicatessens, the bars and the concert halls form a mosaic of the different faces of Madrid in an exhibition inaugurated today in the framework of the International Book Fair of Guadalajara (FIL).

At the opening ceremony at the Cabañas Institute, the Mayor of the Spanish capital, Manuela Carmena, said that this show has been confirmed as a "great painting" of a city with a "vocation of welcome" that welcomes all who want to reach she.

Carmena said that exhibition, which is part of the activities that Madrid brings to the western Mexican city of Guadalajara as the guest of honor to the 31st edition of FIL, It covers important years in the history of the city that caused "a great artistic outbreak".

It also reveals the intensity of cultural groups less known in Mexico as "Los Esquizos", a group of artists who worked clandestinely during the Franco regime and who were known during the first years of Spanish democracy under the premise of breaking with the political and artistic conventions imposed by the dictatorship.

"La movida madrileña", the most important countercultural movement of the 1980s in Spain, occupies a place in the exhibition with works by Carlos Sánchez Pérez, Javier de Juan and Pablo Pérez-Mínguez.
