Agri-food exports of the EU rise to 11,700 million in September

Brussels, Nov 27 (EFE) .- Agrifood exports from the European Union (EU) reached 11,700 million in September, 2% more than the previous month, which puts the balance commercial sector in a surplus of 2,800 million, with significant sales increases to China and Turkey.

China (46%) and Turkey (45%) recorded the largest increases in agri-food exports from the EU in the ninth month of 2017, together with those destined for Nigeria (42%) and Russia (40%), while they fell to the United Arab Emirates (73%), Vietnam (65%), Egypt (44%) and India (41%).

With the fall of agro-food imports in 8,800 million, the agrifood trade balance stood at a surplus of 2,800 million in September.

By sectors, the highest growth was achieved in skins (70%), milk powder (68%) and cereals other than wheat and rice (61%). < Vegetables fell (-54 million) as did sugar (-49) and wheat (-42).

The value of agro-food imports to the EU in September 2016, compared to the same month of the previous year, it grew mainly by products from Ukraine and India, as well as Indonesia.

They fell, on the other hand, the values ​​of imports from the United States, Brazil, Cote d'Ivoire and Ghana.

In the cumulative figure (from September to September), European agro-food exports reached a value of 136,300 million, 5% more.

The largest increases were driven by exports to the United States (1.3 billion, 6%), Russia (800 million, 15%) and other Asian markets: China (700 million, 6%), Japan (700 million, 12%) and Korea (600 million, 26%).

The values ​​of exports to countries in North Africa and the Middle East fell, Saudi (600 million, 12%), Egypt (400 million, 22%), Morocco (200 million, 12%) and Algeria (200 million, 8%).

As for products, good behavior wine, (1,100 million, 11%) milk powder (822 million, 23%) and infant feeding (802 million, 12%), while wheat (1,800 million, 30%) and other cereal exports (500 million, 22%) experienced the largest annual falls.
