A Festival of Heroes that wants to save entrepreneurs in Guatemala

In the Global Entrepreneurship Week in Guatemala thousands of young people gathered today at the Heroes Fest, an innovation and entrepreneurship meeting with talks, awards and workshops in the facilities of the Rafael Landívar University (Jesuit).

Guatemala, Nov 10 (EFE) .- In the Global Entrepreneurship Week in Guatemala, thousands of young people gathered today at the Heroes Fest, a meeting of innovation and entrepreneurship with talks, awards and workshops at the facilities of the Rafael Landívar University (Jesuit).

Businessmen come looking for an opportunity, to make contacts, to meet new people visions or be able to position their inventions in a country of 2.4 million entrepreneurs that boasts of being the first place "in the intention of entrepreneurship", according to the Global Monitor of Entrepreneurship, but that has difficulties to realize projects.

To locate themselves in the national scene and look for opportunities, they traveled from Quetzaltenango, 202 kilometers west. from the capital, Quetzaltecan technological entrepreneurs of the Club of Utopia Technology, Garrobo Studio or Methriks, inventors, programmers and creators.

"I am an inventor", was described Dorian Copá Barrios, from Club Utopia Technology, "the first technology club in southwestern and Quetzaltenango", and "I come to make contacts" to be able to move forward with its video game business and technological solutions.

Heroes Fest allowed Dorian to approach the Embassy of Taiwan, present at the festival, and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

His colleague Ángel Pacam, from Garrobo Studio, says that being here means "the validation of several years of technological entrepreneurship."

The festival, organized by the Ministry of Economy, Youth Employment Program of the European Union, the National Competitiveness Program and the IDB, presented exhibitors of the stature of the Spanish expert Alberto Levy, with his lecture "Innovation and Disruptivity: transforming companies" or the Guatemalan Rocío Pinto, from Multiverse, who presented ideas and investment strategies.

This Saturday, the last day of the appointment, there will also be other motivating talks, such as the "panel of notable entrepreneurs" on financial services by cell phone, 3D printing, bionic prosthesis or the speech of the acclaimed Film director Jayro Bustamante: "Try again".

The Deputy Minister of Development of the Small and Medium Enterprises of the Ministry, Ezrra Orozco, celebrated that from the sphere of the Government and with the advice of the iNNpulsa program in Colombia, "a new system has been implemented to revolutionize thinking in the entrepreneur's ecosystem."

Orozco celebrated the "great influx "that occurred appointment, which surpassed the 1,600 registered entrepreneurs, with a" very high demand in the workshops ".

Levy challenged the Guatemalan entrepreneurs to prepare an "innovation ecosystem" and apply the "disruptive innovation" of the system, which He called the attention of the vice minister, who assured Efe that it will be implemented from next week.

In addition to the talks, the entrepreneurs had the opportunity to meet at Design workshops, innovation, crowfunding, agribusiness competitiveness and digital marketing, and may participate in others as strategies to accelerate sales, investment processes, market research, tax culture, sustainable entrepreneurship and identification of markets.

Heroes Fest also awarded the innovation of students, with the Contest Student of Scientific Works, of the National Council of Science and Technology (Concyt), whose winner was the Liceo Salamanca, of the municipality of Mixco -one of the most violent in the country- who got the first place with an initiative to get the amount of water for health through efficient pumping and control.

The festival, which concludes this Saturday, was created by iNNpulsa Colombia in 2014, in order to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, education, science and technology, based on collaboration, vision, determination and "the passion to design and transform the future of Guatemala."
